I've been selling stuff on the bay for a couple years now. Mostly to good people with a few problems along the way, but nothing drastic. I was just informed by pay-pal that the charges for an item I sold have been contested by the credit card company and put on hold. The buyer claims that she never authorized the purchase and wants her money back. She bought the item on 10-31-10, almost 3 full months ago.

The item was shipped on 11-2-10 and fortunately for me, I kept the tracking number. I have countered the claim with proof of shipment, so I think there is a good chance I'll get the money back.

But why wait almost 90 days? Why not contact me and tell me it was a mistake and ask for the refund? Why not return the item? And is $30 really worth pulling a scam like this?
She's contesting the PayPal transaction but didn't contest the eBay win itself? Fascinating. A little surprised a credit card co. would retract something 90 days old. Guessing she waited 90 days thinking that at least removes eBay from the picture (their cut-off on a dispute is 60 days).
