Guys...Veterans' Day is not really about the Honored Dead--that's Memorial Day, and Veterans' Day is not really a happy occasion either. It's a day to think about, remember, and honor the men and women that served the country in the Armed Forces. It's more a solemn and serious day for personal reflection. Even veterans like myself are reminded to think about who, what, when, where, why and how we contributed to this country and this thing we have and earned, called Freedom.

Yes, it's a "3-day week-end" for a lot of folks, so it's easy to think of this time as no more than a short time off work or school. But...it IS much more than that. Much more. Each American should take some small amount of time and just think about what it means to be "Free."

Think about what you have and enjoy, and what it would mean if you did NOT have your Freedom! Think about those people in the past, the present and, sorry to say, still yet to live that do NOT respect your life, your family, your country, your Freedom to live as you choose! Remembering should be easy to recall people like Stalin, Hitler, Kaiser Wilhelm, the North Koreans, the Communist Chinese, the Communist Vietnamese, and many more people that think or thought that THEIR way was a better way--to subjugate and oppress their own people and the peoples of other countries and nations.

Then remember how it IS that you do NOT suffer the abuses and indignities of these, and so many more people of "evil mind and intentions" because of brave men and women that did something very personal and sacrificial--they stood up for YOU and told the evils of this world, "NO!"

Sorry, I'm getting all wrapped up today with the emotions of the day and getting very "preachy." But it's important to know and remember these things. I'll stop now.
