"Warm Death in a Cold Place." Quite poetic-sounding or maybe the title of a novel! Ohhh...a "mystery novel!"

Now then, Inntruder, I betcha didn't know that the Army in its many strange and powerful ways thought of EXACTLY that problem for the old, reliable M-1 Garand rifle, and ordered a special adaptor lever that fit onto the lower grip area and a roller positioned into contact with the trigger. When the rifleman, wearing big, thick gloves or mittens wanted to fire his rifle, he squeezed the lever and a roller depressed the trigger, firing the rifle! The rifleman did NOT have to remove his gloves or mittens to shoot...but there was STILL the problem with re-loading the ammo clip into the rifle receiver--kinda hard if not impossible to do while wearing said thick, heavy gloves or mittens! One problem solved, another created, dangit!

But... things got better with the M-16 rifle--no special adaptor needed, just using the tip of a bullet to depress a small detent of the lower portuion of the trigger guard, and the trigger guard rotated downward out of the way of the "trigger-finger" gloves or mittens! Voile' Solution to TWO problems--the rifleman didn't need to remove his gloves to re-fit a loaded magazine into the M-16 because of his improved finger flexiblity and the generally larger M-16 magazine!

Well, ain't I the little blabber-mouth tonight! Talk about "Battle Barbies" and end up giving a history lesson of US Army battle rifles.

Oh well, Joe shoots or Joe suffers frostbite of his pinkies! What a decision to have to make!

What would GI Joe do? "WWGD?"

Inntruder, yer Arctic Joe looks ready for duty! Ship him off to Norway for training at the Arctic and Mountain Warfare School! Or, maybe he's assigned to Fort Wainwright or the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum. Joe is GO!
