This is a story we've been working on here over this week end. It continues from the original that I posted at The Trenches, so I need to post those to makes sense of what we've been doing!
So... to begin at the beginning....
Secret Prophecy of Easter Island!
'Blackpool calling! This is Blackpool calling! Adventure Team Commander, North West - UK here! Hello, Gentlemen!
Now then, I've been digging around the old ATeam files and photographs, to bring us up to speed on our involvement with Easter Island.
The connection stretches way, way back to before the Adventure Team was officially forged...
Daring young men were indeed needed, and a ragga muffin bunch of mismatches they were too! However, they were enthusiastic and keen. They were interviewed, and taken orf to the island, which at the time was used for training purposes. The intention was to determine just who had the real spirit of Adventure!
Among the many tasks to complete was an initial parachute drop onto the island...

River craft and landing training...
As well as photo opportunities for the folks back home!
and R & R! Recall that, folks? Rest and Relaxation!!! Oh, I remember it well - sun, sea and.... a flocking cold shower!!!!!!
We didn't want to attract any un necessary attention. Rumours and counter rumours were started by our covert ops' team!
Evidently a rising star, Sgt Triumph (as he was then) even made the local paper!
This is mildly interesting... not sure how it started, possibly by our very own propaganda and design Team. It seems that they may have came up with a novel distraction for the locals, in the shape of an Adventurer's toy outfit for the kids of the nearest mainlanders.
Looks like they were based on authentic outfits that our fellers wore at the time - basically, a mish mash of re issued gear. We didn't have any identifiable uniforms or outfits , as such. It was anything, we could get our fixed gripper on!
Sadly, it never took off, something about boys not really being interested in dolls outfits, apparently. Having said that, I wonder if this is the original source for the rumours of a Secret Prophecy? I can only find the thin est of evidence to base any conspiracy theories on!!!!
The only other connection to any sort of mumbo jumbo of that type was in these next two snaps... apparently, these words were found on a number of occasions...
'Thy hair is as a flock of goat's'

I have also found the quote in a book by an English author. Many of you will know that it originally comes from 'The song of Solomon'. Less obvious is what it actually means!
Hmm, 'Thy hair is as a flock of goats?' I haven't a clue, and no idea if it ever came true!!!
This particular part of the story comes to an end, around 1969. The whole escapade collapsed around accusations of mismanagement, amateur ness, and strange happenings on the Island. Just after the group had pulled out, it was discovered that one of it's member's was missing. This is only example of us going a man down in our history, and the circumstances still haven't been properly examined, let alone explained.
The Team re located to Pawtucket to re think, re group, and get focused. It was the beginning of the force that we are today. If I discover anything else, I'll keep you posted.
Be seeing you!
